Something to Consider……
Awhile back, I was looking hard for my favorite coffee cup when I realized I had left it at work. It seemed as if my desire for coffee had diminished. As I looked around my home, I noted that I had a number of coffee cups that were hardly – if ever used by me. But it was not my coffee cup. My cup has seen better years – it has coffee stains, now many chips, and probably needs to be replaced – however I really like the cup and it serves the purpose I desire.
Some would say to me – brother, just get another cup and enjoy your coffee …… and that’s is reasonable – however, God allowed me to better understand a principle once known well. All vessels are designed to be used, however only a few really are used while others sit on a shelf being used for decoration or by those other than the home owner – how we distinguish between the two is called choice.
“but in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, and some to dishonor. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work” – 2 Timothy 2:20-21
As a servant of God, I truly want to be one used frequently – however, even those vessels not used are still in the house secured which is where we all strive to be.
yours in Christ our Lord,
